Program Impact

How We Measure Success

At House of Champions, success means more than just academic improvement, it means equipping each child with the social, emotional, and educational tools they need to thrive. To ensure our program is making a lasting impact, we use a multi-faceted approach to evaluation:

  • Social-Emotional Growth: We use the Devereux Student Strengths Assessment (DESSA 2) three times each year – at the start, midpoint, and end of the program – to track student progress in key social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies. This nationally recognized tool helps us measure growth, identify areas of need, and personalize support for each child.

  • Academic Monitoring: We closely track students' state test scores in Math and English Language Arts (ELA) to understand academic trends and reinforce our educational support strategies throughout the year.

  • Stakeholder Feedback: Input from the people who know our students best, parents, teachers, and House Coordinators, is gathered through end-of-year surveys. Their insights help us evaluate program impact from multiple perspectives and keep our approach responsive and student-centered.

Together, these tools help us ensure that every child who walks through our doors is growing academically, emotionally, and socially in ways that set them up for long-term success.
